Online Video Consultation With a Neurosurgeon
Online video consultation with Dr. Salman Falak gives patients a neurosurgeon's opinion on their scans without travelling to Lahore first. This appointment is booked on WhatsApp, where the MRI, CT or X-ray reports are shared before the call. Its outcome is a clear plan, whether that is reassurance, treatment to try first, or a date for surgery.
What can be decided on video, and what cannot
A great deal can be decided from the scan and the history: whether the pain fits the disc seen on the MRI, whether a tumour needs surgery soon or can be watched, which tests are still missing, and whether a trip to Lahore is worth making. What cannot be done on a screen is the physical examination, the testing of power, reflexes and sensation that confirms what the scan suggests. That is why an operation is never booked on a video call alone; the call is followed by one planned OPD visit.
How to book
Send a WhatsApp message to 0331 5555335 with your name, city and a short description of the problem. You will be given a time for the call and asked to send your reports in advance. Calls are in Urdu or English, and a family member is welcome to join.
How to share your MRI and reports
- Photograph each MRI film against a bright window or a white screen, one film per photo, so the text is readable
- Send the written report as a photo or PDF
- If you have the CD, send the images from it if you can, otherwise bring it to the visit
- Add old X-rays, prescriptions and your medicine list
After the call
You leave the call knowing what the scan shows, whether surgery is likely, which tests to complete locally and which OPD to come to. If an operation is advised, the visit, the hospital and the expected stay are planned so the family travels once. Many patients from Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot and Sahiwal use this route; the Across Punjab page explains it in full.
Questions patients ask
Is a video consultation as good as a visit?
For the first opinion on a scan it is very useful, and it saves a journey that may turn out to be unnecessary. It does not replace the examination, which is why one OPD visit follows before any operation.
What do I need for the call?
A phone with WhatsApp and a reasonable signal, your reports sent in advance, and ideally a family member beside you. Write down your questions beforehand.
Can you prescribe medicine on video?
Medicine can be advised after the call when it is safe to do so without an examination, for example to control pain while tests are completed. Anything that needs an examination waits for the visit.
I already have an MRI from another city. Do I need to repeat it?
Usually not, if it is recent and of good quality. Send it on WhatsApp and you will be told whether it is enough or whether a better sequence is needed before the visit.
